Boulder Attractions & Activities
Settled in 1858, Boulder has been called “the city between
the mountains and reality.” Located at the foot of the Rocky
Mountains, Boulder has the perfect year round weather. It
has more than 30,000 acres of open land and 200 miles of
hiking and biking paths.
It is home to high tech companies, the University of Colorado, the National Center for Atmospheric Research and the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Boulder’s cultural scene includes orchestra, music, dance, museums, art galleries, unique shops, films and outdoor film festivals. It is a unique mixture technology, history, nature and metropolitan living.
Do you love the beauty of nature? Then a trek along Boulder Creek Path is just
what you’re looking for! The 16 mile nature and exercise
trail passes through the city (no street crossings) into
the mountains and past a sculpture garden, a restored steam
engine, and several city parks.
For water activities, visit Boulder Reservoir where you can enjoy swimming, boating, water skiing and fishing. However, if hitting the back 9 is more your style, then book a day at Vista Ridge Golf Club with it Jay Morrish designed course. The incredible scenery with its rolling hills and majestic view of the Rockies makes even the worst shot to be above par. For wintertime activity, you can hit the slopes at Eldora Mountain Resort where you will find downhill and cross country skiing. There are 12 lifts, 53 runs and 27 miles of cross country trails.
Do you enjoy sculptures, original works, and various media forms? If so, then
Boulder has much to explore. At the Boulder Museum of Contemporary
Art you will find contemporary and regional paintings and
sculptures, experimental performances and changing exhibits.
They also offer lectures, workshops and host special events.
For art of a slightly different sort, visit Leanin’ Tree
Museum of Western Art where you will find original art work
used on the greeting cards produced
by Leanin’ Tree. The museum also displays the private art
collection of Edward P. Trumble, the company’s founder.
For a taste of the town visit Pearl Street Mall.
Here you can discover Boulder’s unique personality with
its open –air retail and restaurant district. You will find
Victorian storefronts, brick walkways, and beautiful landscaping
paired with upscale bars, boutiques, galleries and cafes.

Folsom Field at the University of Colorado
For adventures in education, spend a day at the University
of Colorado. On its 786 acre campus you will find the
Old Main and the Norlin Library. Also at UC is the Fisk
Planetarium and Science Center where you can participate
in science classes for all ages, science exhibits and laser
shows, the Sommers-Buasch Observatory where you can stargaze,
and the Mack Auditorium Concert Hall which host artist series,
guest artist, and the Boulder Philharmonic. The campus is
also home to the University of Colorado Museum where you
can learn about the region’s history through geological,
zoological and botanical collections.
